DENTAL IMPLANTS

At Dentistry180, we specialize in several dental implant treatments, as well as preliminary procedures to ensure you qualify for treatment. Over the past few decades, implants have become the industry standard for many situations where tooth replacement is necessary. Whether you are missing one tooth or all your teeth, we will find the implant treatment protocol that best suits your needs.

Who Is A Candidate For Implants?

Most people healthy enough to undergo minor oral surgery should qualify for implants. During your consultation, Dr. Mario will review your medical history and perform a thorough examination to determine if implants are right for you. In order to evaluate the quantity and quality of bone the exam will include digital x-rays, CBCT scans, and other 3-D imaging technology, as well as intra-oral photos.

Dental Implant Placement

A dental implant is a titanium “post” that is placed underneath the gum tissue into the bone through a minor surgical procedure. The “post” then fuses to the bone in the following month's thanks to a process known as osseointegration. This process is what allows implants to serve as the root component for a single crown, fixed bridge, or full-arch restoration.

Maintaining Implants

Because the implant fuses to the bone, your restoration will function similarly to a natural tooth. This is why dental implants are much more convenient than removable alternatives like dentures. All implant-supported restorations must be maintained with daily brushing, flossing, routine checkups, and cleanings at the dental office.

Tooth Socket Graft

When a tooth is lost, you lose the physical stimulation that keeps your bone healthy and strong. Over time, the bone will collapse, affecting your facial appearance and chances of receiving an implant. We perform a socket graft immediately following a tooth extraction to prevent this from happening.

Bone Grafting

A bone graft may be required as a preliminary procedure for implant treatment. You may need it if your jawbone is too thin or soft to support an implant on its own. This procedure may be performed in our office or referred to a periodontist depending on its complexity.
